First Strijp-T Urban Run: a vibrant success!

What an energy at StrijpT yesterday! Nearly 100 sporty StrijpT-ers gathered in the Gloeilamplantsoen for the very first edition of the Strijp-T Urban Run.

After a brisk warm-up under the leadership of sports coaches Robin Swinkels and Martin Romijn of EindhovenGym, the adventurous run began under, through and over the former Philips factories of Strijp-T.

The route led the runners through the mysterious basements of buildingTQ, through the inspiring workspaces of, among others, Foreside and SoMMedia. After that it went via the central hall of the InnovationPowerhouse toward buildingTZ, to cross via the footbridge to buildingTY and walk into Melt @ Avular.

The participants braved the heat and explored the area around gebouwTAQ of Settels Savenije Group of Companies and gebouwTX, where Bosch Rexroth will soon be the first to move in. Then via gebouwTAB they visited KRAGT, before heading towards Brainport Development and Fontys ICT. And as the icing on the cake: a spectacular view from the 6th floor over MELT’s balcony, with the finish on the rooftop terrace.

There stood Strijp-T community chairman Bernard Gosselink ready to personally welcome everyone, and Koen van Loon together with Dirk de Haan of SAL-T took care of the refreshments. And a warm and festive finale to a successful new sporting event.

The winding route had many bends, stairs and surprising passages, which caused the necessary drops of sweat. Fortunately there was plenty of conviviality and distraction along the way, with musical greetings from DJ Alex Hupkes and a motivating pep talk from Immi Ozturk.

Thanks to the initiators and organizers Danny Peters, Thijs van de Nieuwenhof and Dreas – you have created something beautiful. A new tradition has been born and you have succeeded in further strengthening the sense of togetherness in our Strijp-T community in a sporting way.
