At home. Strijp-T
Under the supervision of nearly 200 guests, yesterday, exactly 132 years after the founding date of Philips, Gerard Philips returned 'home' to Strijp-T.
This time in the form of a huge artwork, symbolizing humanity and innovation. A monument that not only represents the past, but also serves as 'a gateway to the future'.
Nice to see that everything is in place. Gerard Philips, the driving force behind Philips and known as Maker, Creator, and Innovator, could not have a more fitting place than in the Light Bulb Park at Strijp-T.
A place where companies are still engaged in high-quality innovation, high tech, and design on a daily basis, preparing for the future.
The statue of Gerard Philips has already been nominated as the most special spot in the Municipality of Eindhoven to photograph for future generations. Both during the day and in the evening. Also inside the tunnel itself, which serves as a selfie paradise. Definitely worth coming to experience this.
The statue was created by Andreas Hetfeld and presented by Philips to Mayor Jeroen Dijsselbloem as a lasting tribute to this remarkable man, who has had such a significant impact on society and the environment and who once again manages to impress in Brainport Eindhoven since yesterday.
