On (the) T at... Sven Braat from SoMMedia

This time we went with our T-pot to Sven Braat of SoMMedia, who has recently set up a TV studio in building TQ1. Extra special if you know that in 1932 Philips was located on that exact same spot with a film studio complex for recording sound films, nicknamed 'PhiliWood'.

What does your company do?

‘We create all kinds of videos, from corporate promotions to animations, but also livestreams and hybrid events. Our mission is simple: we bring stories to life with creative video content. We help companies convey their message in an engaging and impactful way. We do that with a video and/or animation’.

‘Our studio at T plays a central role in this and it is easy to collaborate with our neighbors; reception and after-party with a snack and a drink at Vascobelo. But also with Studio Paul Raats, who presented his exhibition in our studio, and Bosch Security and Safety Systems, which regularly makes use of our facilities’.

What is your role?

‘At SoMMedia they call me the ‘Master of ordered chaos’. What does that mean? ‘Well, I'm actually the one who handles the technical side of our productions and comes up with creative concepts. It's a bit of a mix of a techie and a creative, I make sure everything runs smoothly and, together with the team, come up with awesome ideas!’

Who would you like us to let go on the T next time?

‘At Fontys ICT, because I often see many students walking by and from my window I can see them sitting, but what exactly are they doing here at Strijp-T?’
