On (the) T by Settels
..... Sven Pekelder and Richard Nap of Settels Savenije Group of Companies.
What does your company do?
“At Settels, as we often shorten our company name, we design and build, as a ‘solution provider’, equipment and modules for machines in the semiconductor industry and are involved in microscope technology in the high-tech manufacturing industry. Fifty percent of this is R&D and fifty percent consists of the production of precision parts. In this way we support customers around the world and we now do this with 160 people, who represent 14 nationalities. Together we have many years of knowledge and experience and a network in the field of technological development at the highest level.”
“Settels is a fertile ground for students. There are always a relatively large number of interns here. All of them have a passion for groundbreaking technology and possess a great curiosity. Combined with this inspiring work environment, we are highly attractive to both students and clients in the high-tech industry.”
“Strijp-T as a high-tech environment with many innovative companies contributes to this and reinforces easy, mutual cross-pollination. The role and activities of the community also fit with this and especially appeal to young people. Although such a redevelopment of the adjacent building TX occasionally causes some inconvenience, it is incredibly nice to see that the historical value of this building is also being carefully preserved. And so a unique part of Eindhoven is created here, which attracts attractive high-tech companies and thus takes on an increasingly important position in the high-tech environment of Brainport.”
What is your role?
“As CTO I am responsible for solving the question of what we can mean for our customers in technical terms”, says Sven. ‘And as COO I am director of our R&D department and thereby responsible for the daily operation of the entire organization. Together we develop a lot and are part of the Management Team”, Richard explains.
Whose place do you want us to go to on the T next time and why?
“Smurfit Kappa, because it takes up such a large part in the middle of the site.”
