On (the) T at Louwers IP&Tech Lawyers

This time we went at the request of Joep Verheijen of B-too B.V. to the T at Louwers IP&Tech Advocaten - LAWYERS OF CHANGE. On the 2nd floor of the Innovation Powerhouse with a view of the chimneys of Strijp-T we spoke with founder Ernst-Jan Louwers and his partner Frank Rutgers.

What does your organization do?

We are specialized in intellectual property & innovation, IT, digitization & data, privacy, internet & e-commerce and commercial contracts. A very large part of our work consists of advising, connecting and facilitating collaboration with good commercial contracts. And our economy is driven by good cooperation, certainly in this region.

Frank: In rapidly changing environments we stand alongside our client as ‘lawyers of change’: we know the dynamics of creation, innovation and technology and are experts in IT, internet, digitization, data, privacy, technology and intellectual property.

Our areas of expertise align perfectly with the companies on Strijp-T. That is why we are also located here, in the beating heart of Brainport Eindhoven, says Ernst-Jan. It is a breeding ground of innovation and technology, IT and digital transformation, manufacturing industry, creation and design. Frank adds: Strijp-T inspires us and our people. The dynamism of our building and Strijp-T is contagious, for us and our clients. The community ensures that everyone makes contact quickly and easily. A few years ago we participated in the T-Tournament together with Evido Innovative Film Production. In the meantime we each play with our own team.

As a former board member of the community, Ernst-Jan was closely involved in the 1st edition of the ‘rooftop event’. It is now held annually on the roof of TQ. My colleague Lidian de Weert (bass guitar) and I (trumpet) performed then with the Strijp-T band. Strijp-T is really a place where work and fun seamlessly merge.

What is your role?

I work with great pleasure as a lawyer, says Ernst-Jan. Frank: We are seen as a leading “niche firm” in our fields of work, certainly here in the south. Besides our client work we regularly give presentations and training sessions about hot items such as AI and enforcement of intellectual property. Additionally we regularly publish in trade journals or specialized blogs. Sharing knowledge and insights is in our DNA.

With whom do you want us to go on the T next time and why?

At Sebastiaan Sloos of Whyellow, our former neighbors answer laughing. They have, due to their strong growth, moved to building TQ. We are curious whether it is ‘across the way’ just as nice as here!
