On the T at... SPECIAL

BEYONDER Netherlands, formerly Whyellow, is based at Strijp-T. Cecile Smeets and Boudie Hoogedeure visited Sebastiaan Sloos of BEYONDER via Ernst-Jan Louwers of Louwers IP&Tech Lawyers - LAWYERS OF CHANGE.

What does your organization do?

Sebastiaan: “BEYONDER helps companies with their digital vision and strategy. We have 150 employees in the Netherlands, spread across Eindhoven, Rotterdam and Enschede. Our expertise includes cybersecurity, data, AI, software development and user experience.

At Strijp-T we focus mainly on the last two. We have grown in ten years from three to 150 employees and continue to grow. Strijp-T gives us the space to grow further, possibly into building TX.

We are certified as ‘Great Place to Work’ and have been in the top 10 of Best Workplaces for five years. Our core values are respect, trust, transparency, camaraderie and honesty. We are people-oriented and this is appreciated by our employees.

We are a young organization; many employees join us directly after graduating. We think it's important that work is fun and we invest in social activities. We have just returned from our annual ski holiday and regularly organize events such as a hut-to-hut trek in the Alps, Super Friday and game nights.”

What is your role?

“I am general director for Eindhoven and Rotterdam. We have a flat, informal organization with self-managing teams.

The atmosphere at Strijp-T helps in recruiting new people and supports our business. The Strijp-T community provides fun and spontaneous encounters. Iris van Doormalen, for example, organizes the afterparty of the Tournament annually at our place.

The collaboration between companies on Strijp-T is unique. Our new name has been registered by LIOC Patents & Trademarks, Louwers Advocaten supports us legally, i3CONNECT (formerly CTOUCH) supplies screens for our meeting rooms and we are working together with Foreside.

We started at Strijp-S and moved three years ago to the TQ building. Here we got to know Faber IPP PRS, who are now clients. Strijp-T offers us many opportunities.

Personally I find it special to be at Strijp‑T because of nostalgia. During my studies I worked on the floor maintenance of Philips buildings on Strijp. During the move I applied a layer of wax to our canteen at TQ.

Who would you like us to go to on the T next time, and why?

“With Rick Wijgergans, IT director at Faber IPP/PRS, our client and downstairs neighbor. They are among the global top 3 in the rental of load carriers (including pallets). More people should know that.”
