Gloeilampplantsoen near Strijp-T in Eindhoven restored to its former glory; 23 trees planted, the rest will follow later

EINDHOVEN - With the planting of a prunus, an ornamental cherry tree, the official start has been given to the redesign of the Gloeilampplantsoen on Strijp-T in Eindhoven. In the first phase, 23 trees and the necessary shrubs and underplanting will be planted. The rest will follow later.

The green space is the 'front yard' of Strijp-T and building TQ, says Boudie Hoogedeure of real estate company GEVA BV. "We were once in a position to become the owner and then, to be ready for the Dutch Design Week in 2019, in our enthusiasm pruned and felled too much. It was well meant, to make the green space look tidy. Of course we should have applied for a permit first back then. After that we tried, together with the municipality of Eindhoven and Trefpunt Groen, to rectify that mistake."

Compensating for lost greenery

,,Now we are compensating for the greenery that disappeared back then", Hoogedeure says. ,,We have tried to make the most of it, because a green environment is important for pleasant living and working. Just as we involved the heritage foundations with the buildings, we have now involved Trefpunt Groen.”
