Draka Comteq Fibre B.V. is a high-quality fiber-optic factory in the green corridor of Eindhoven Brainport. It is the largest multimode fiber-optic factory in the world that continuously strives to become or remain the best.
That applies, among other things, to the product, the technologies and methodologies applied, and the associated corporate philosophy. And thereby provides a sustainable and challenging working environment for 150 to 200 employees.
The company produces, partly on the basis of the globally patented process "Plasma Chemical Vapourized Deposition" (PCVD), a qualitatively superior optical fiber and an intermediate product leading to that end.
The factory was founded in 1982 as a Philips company and in 1993 became part of Draka as Plasma Optical Fibre, which in 2011 became part of Prysmian Group.
Prysmian Group is a world leader in the energy and telecom cable industry.
The factory is located in building TAY on the Strijp T industrial estate in the municipality of Eindhoven while the small-scale production once began in building TY.
A part of the residual heat released during the annual production of one million fiber-kilometers is used to heat the homes on Strijp R.
