Maintenance service for Gloeilampplantsoen
Date: August 18, 2019
In May 2019, the development team of Strijp T purchased the Gloeilampplantsoen. This was done in order to create the 'front yard' they had always envisioned for their development area in Strijp. Before the team, together with other parties, starts making plans for the future of the Gloeilampplantsoen, the site will first undergo necessary maintenance. In an initial introductory meeting with the new owner, we discussed and agreed upon these maintenance measures.
First clean up
To ensure that the Gloeilampplantsoen looks safe and friendly again, maintenance work will start soon. This way, the new owner and partners like Trefpunt Groen Eindhoven will have time to come up with a beautiful and solid plan for the future.
The measures include:
Removing dead wood from trees and pruning/preparing trees that will stand alone for safety and stability.
Removing unwanted plants such as Japanese Knotweed and American Bird Cherry that outcompete other species.
Removal of litter and construction waste.
Creation of artificial mounds of sand and green waste by stirring the soil.
Restore old paths with wood chips.
The maintenance work will start in the week of August 26th.
Planning
In a later stage, the development team of Strijp T will collaborate with parties (including the Meeting Point) to consider the future use of the park. The new owner does not yet know how the planning process will be organized and when it will take place. Following our 'participation from the start' principle, we will involve experts and stakeholders from affiliated groups, such as the 'Friends of the Incandescent Lamp Square'.
Together, we hope to make a valuable contribution to the development of a climate-resilient, biodiverse, and enjoyable green Gloeilampplantsoen!
