EINDHOVEN - On the top floor of the former Philips Power Plant at Strijp-T in Eindhoven, work is underway to establish a new company, Seven Steps to Heaven. The company aims to take the next step in growing plants under LED light.
The initiators are no strangers in this field: Gertjan and Lianne Meeuws, who founded Plantlab 13 years ago.
Air treatment
Plantlab grew into a real company, now located in the former De Gruyter factory in Den Bosch. After a conflict, Gertjan and Lianne took a different path, which has now resulted in Seven Steps to Heaven. The company has further developed the technique of plant cultivation, especially in the field of air treatment. Because humidity and evaporation appear to be much more decisive for successful plant cultivation than previously thought.
The use of a plenum makes the difference. This device blows a constant airflow very gradually through the long cultivation space, ensuring that all plants receive the same temperature and humidity.
Shop window
The cultivation space on the top floor of the former power plant in Eindhoven is actually a kind of showcase. The company wants to show its customers how plant cultivation under LED light can be even better conditioned there. Seven Steps to Heaven wants to sell these systems worldwide. Because with this system, food can in principle be grown anywhere on earth.
