Within Thermo Fisher Scientific we are proud to be back at Strijp, the roots of our electron microscope division. Our microscope division started as Philips Electron Optics as one of the Philips spin-offs, and their first electron microscope, the EM 100, was built at Strijp in 1947. They sold an astonishing 350 units… that was the start! In 1997, Philips sold their Electron Optics division to FEI Company, and since a few years, since 2016, we are part of the Thermo Fisher Scientific family.
